A Cargo Setup Built Around the 2-Door JL

Mike Bradshaw's Jeep Wrangler JL puts the space behind the front seats to work. An Overland Shelf adds an upper level of storage, while the 2-Door JL Storage Platform provides the foundation for the cargo equipment below. Open the tailgate and the layout comes into view: a secured cooler, drawers with red handles, and a slide-out work surface with wood and metal panels. The photos below show the system stowed, extended, and in use at the American Adventure Lab shop.

    Storage Above, a Foundation Below

The 2-Door JL Overland Shelf separates the upper storage area from the equipment below. Its adjustable height lets the layout account for the gear beneath it, and the side MOLLE panels provide additional mounting space. The 2-Door JL Storage Platform gives the build a flat mounting deck with integrated threaded mounting points for cargo accessories. Both products use factory mounting locations. Planning a similar setup? The shelf is for the JL 2-Door with a hard top and requires rear-seat removal. Check the individual product pages for fitment and included components.

From Stowed Gear to a Work Surface

Mike's layout brings the work surface out through the rear opening. The removable wood panel and hinged metal surface are shown in the gallery, along with the open drawers and cooler slide. Coming Soon: Flip-In Side Drawer and Storage Drawers. The flip-in side drawer and the two storage drawers shown in Mike's build are upcoming products that we will release soon. We will add their product pages when they launch. For now, the linked products are the 2-Door JL Overland Shelf and 2-Door JL Storage Platform. The drawers, slide, cooler, and work surface shown in this complete build are not included with either linked product.
